This weekend, all roads lead to Manor Fields for one of our highly anticipated Super Saturday Double Headers. With both senior men’s teams at home, the day offers supporters the chance to enjoy a packed programme of rugby, beginning with our Vice Presidents’ lunch and rolling straight into two high-intensity league fixtures.
It’s days like this that showcase what Bletchley Rugby is all about: community, competition, and the chance for players, coaches, volunteers, and supporters to stand shoulder to shoulder in Maroon and White. The 1st XV and 2nd XV will both be looking to set down markers in their respective leagues, and with the backing of a noisy home crowd, The Manor is set to provide the perfect stage.
So whether you’re joining us for the VP lunch, cheering on from the touchline, or bringing friends and family to sample the club atmosphere, Saturday is about celebrating rugby at its best - together.
Vice Presidents’ Buffet Lunch - 13:30
The day begins in the clubhouse at 13:30 with the ever-popular VP buffet lunch. This is more than just a meal - it’s a chance for our Vice Presidents to gather, share stories, and set the tone for what promises to be an action-packed afternoon.
Entry is open to all paid-up Vice Presidents, but if you’d like to become part of this important community and join the lunch, full details are available in our VP section by clicking here.
Bletchley 1st XV v Wallingford RFC – 15:00 KO
After the lunch, the focus shifts to the 1st XV, who welcome Wallingford RFC in Round 3 of the Counties 1 League. Kick-off is at 15:00.
The teams finished close together last season - Bletchley 5th, Wallingford 8th - and both are ambitious to climb higher in 2024/25. Our lads arrive with growing confidence, having shown determination against Bicester in the league and then backing it up with a strong display against Vipers in the Cup. Now, the challenge is to carry that momentum into another big home performance.
Wallingford will arrive determined to upset the day. Known for their grit and work-rate, they are the kind of side who can punish lapses in concentration. But on home soil, with the Manor crowd behind them, Bletchley will be looking to dictate the tempo - strong forward carries, clinical decision-making at the breakdown, and attacking flair from the backs could be the keys to securing the result.
With the squad hungry to establish The Manor as a fortress, this promises to be a physical, high-intensity match worthy of the Super Saturday stage.
Bletchley 2nd XV v Leighton Buzzard 2nd XV – 15:00 KO
The action will also be on Pitch 2 with a local derby that always delivers fireworks. At 15:00, our 2nd XV take on neighbours Leighton Buzzard 2nd XV who make the 15 minute drive up to The Manor, in what will be a fiercely contested league encounter.
Last season saw Leighton Buzzard finish 5th, with our 2s in 8th, but derbies are never decided by last year’s standings. This is about pride, rivalry, and laying down a marker for the season ahead.
Expect a battle up front as both packs look to dominate the scrum and breakdown, while quick ball and sharp handling could prove decisive out wide. With young players eager to impress and experienced club stalwarts bringing their know-how, Bletchley’s 2s will look to harness the home support and prove they are closing the gap on their local rivals.
Every derby matters - and this one could set the tone for the 2nd XV’s campaign.
All Eyes on The Manor
Super Saturday is about more than just two matches. It’s about community, passion, and making Manor Fields a place where our players feel unstoppable.
We need your support - your voices from the touchline, your noise from the clubhouse, your energy from the stands. Come down, bring family and friends, and let’s fill The Manor with a sea of Maroon and White.
