On a wet and windy Sunday our women’s team made their way to Cambridge. With low numbers to start and a quick 4G, it was always going to be a tough game.

Starting with some solid defensive work, it took over 25 minutes for Cambridge to open the score line with 2 converted try’s in quick succession. Bletchley’s defensive efforts ensured that Cambridge had to score wide. The home side scored a final try just before half time, going into the break 19-0 to Cambridge.

The rain not letting up and Bletchley bodies tiring, Cambridge managed to put more points on the board. Bletchley faced injuries and ended up playing with 13 players with 10 minutes left on the clock. Cambridge showed great sportsmanship in dropping numbers to match 13 players a piece. This allowed Bletchley to play their best rugby of the day with the forwards crashing and drawing some players close to to the Cambridge try line. A quick ball out the back and some even quicker hands allowed Lauren to score over the line and a conversion by Jess after the final whistle left the final score 38-7 to Cambridge.

Some excellent defensive play throughout by Bletchley but a well deserved win by Cambridge. Sponsors’ player went to Charlotte for some incredible cover tackles and controlling the game at 15, and players’ player went to Fi for some amazing low hard tackles and a never ending supply of energy. Bletchley looks forward to hosting Cambridge in the new year!!
