The Under 20's 7's has been running for some time and this year saw Bletchley's best performance. This year the format had changed to X7s, which is played on a smaller pitch and has a few other different rules to normal 7's.

Bletchley's first game in the pool stages was against a tough Chesham side and the scores were even at half time. After half time scores from Harvey Jenkins and Chris Byatt changed that and the game ended 42-22.
The second pool game was against a very tough High Wycombe side and it was a tight game with things being all square at half time. Some great hits from Callum Hudson, John Subong and Harry Needham piled the pressure on Wycombe. Bletchley would score then Wycombe and this was replicated several times till the scores were 22-22 with 5 minutes to go. In the end, Wycombe's class showed and they got a try in the last minutes of the game and the game ended 27-22 to High Wycombe.
The final pool game was against Marlow who have historically been contenders to win the whole Tournament along with High Wycombe. Like Chesham, the first half started hotly contested and Marlow had the lead at half time with the scores at 15-12. In the second half, Bletchley came hot out of the gates with scores from Jordan Murray and Ben Goodman who hasn't played rugby in 4 years and played extremely well during the Tournament. In the next play, it took three players to take Sam Kissi-Dankyi down due to his power and he still got a try for his efforts. This left the scores at the end of the game 34-22 to Bletchley and Bletchley would now go and play High Wycombe in the final.
High Wycombe started very well in the final and got themselves 7 points from the start, thanks to a very good offload from a tackle. Bletchley responded well and big carries from Michael Mbaud, Charlie Romeo-Penn and Callum Hudson put the players just outside High Wycombe's try line. Unfortunately for Bletchley, they had many close opportunities to score but Wycombe's defensive effort was too great and after 5 minutes camped on their try line the score ended 7-0 at half time. Bletchley held their heads high but Wycombe got an early try after half time and the game ended 19-0 which isn't a reflective score on how close the game was.
From a Bletchley perspective, this was the best performance we ever had at this Tournament and the Under 20's lost to a very good High Wycombe side. Lots to look forward to from this young group of players as the vast majority of them will be playing rugby this season for the Senior team.
A big thank you to Alan Lane and Tim Holmes for organising the event and for the referees for taking time out on a Friday evening to help out. Also, thank you to Aylesbury Rugby Club for providing facilities for the Tournament.
