This weekend brings a packed programme at The Manor as Bletchley’s 1st XV welcome Buckingham for a highly anticipated derby day showdown. With important league points at stake, a sell out charity VP lunch supporting the MND Association, and the club Christmas party rounding off the evening, it promises to be one of the biggest days of the season both on and off the pitch.
Derby Day: Bletchley vs Buckingham
The 1st XV return to home soil looking to reset after a mixed recent run of results. Bletchley currently sit 8th in the league, having recorded a loss, rebounded with two strong wins, and then fallen short again last weekend. The squad have shown real moments of quality, and this fixture provides the platform to turn those moments into a complete performance.
Buckingham, meanwhile, come into the match in excellent form. Sitting 4th, they have won their last four matches and bring confidence and consistency into the derby. They will test Bletchley’s organisation, physicality, and game management from the first whistle.
But derby matches write their own script. With a big home crowd behind them, Bletchley will be determined to deliver the intensity, accuracy and resilience needed to challenge a top-four side and put down a marker in the league.
Charity VP Lunch: Supporting the MND Association
Before kick-off, the club will host a sold out special VP Lunch raising funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association in honour of club stalwart Colin Spence, who is bravely living with MND.
Colin is a hugely respected and much-loved member of Bletchley Rugby Club - a volunteer, mentor, supporter and friend whose contribution spans generations. This event gives the entire club community the chance to come together, show support, and raise money for a vitally important cause.
Funds raised will go directly to the MND Association to help provide essential care and advance research into better treatments.
Post-Match: Club Christmas Party
The day doesn’t end at the full-time whistle. Once the derby concludes, the club Christmas party kicks off, and all players, families, and supporters are invited to stay and enjoy an evening of festive fun.
The bar will be open, the atmosphere will be lively, and it’s the perfect opportunity to round off a huge club day with teammates, friends, and the wider Bletchley community.
Whether you’ve cheered from the touchline, attended the VP lunch, or simply want to join the celebrations — everyone is welcome to stay on and enjoy the festivities.
A Huge Day for the Club
With a major league fixture, an important charitable event, and a festive celebration all in one day, Saturday embodies everything that makes community rugby special. We encourage all members and supporters to come down, get involved, and be part of what promises to be a memorable day at The Manor.
