This Saturday the Bletchley 2nd XV are back on the road again, heading to Daventry RFC for a friendly at Stefen Hill, Daventry (NN11 4ST). 15:00 kick-off – meet time at 13:30.

Last Time Out
The 2nds came incredibly close in last week’s friendly at Northampton BBOB, narrowly losing 33-31 in a game that swung both ways.

Strong set-piece work pulled Bletchley back in the first half.
In the second half, Bletchley grabbed the lead with two well-worked tries but then saw BBOB fight back with some big moments.
With minutes to spare the 2nds were battling to snatch it back, but fell just short.
Man of the Match was awarded to lock Toby Short for an outstanding display.

So, plenty of positives to build on, even if the result wasn’t what we wanted.

What to Expect from Daventry
Daventry RFC are a solid outfit and always a fair challenge, especially on home turf. Their ground at Stefen Hill is well kept, with a good community backing.

The 2nds will need to match physicality up front, stay disciplined, control territory, and finish scoring chances when they come. If last week’s performance is anything to go by, Bletchley can cause Daventry problems, particularly in the set pieces and in the narrower channels.

Away fixtures like this are great chance to show support. If you can travel, get to Daventry and make yourselves heard – your vocal backing makes a difference. It’s only about a 30-40 minute drive depending on where you are, and always good to make a presence.

Also, after the match the clubhouse at Daventry is welcoming – good spot to stick around, enjoy a drink, swap stories, and carry on the rugby banter.
