A Special Weekend of Reflection and Rugby

A Special Weekend of Reflection and Rugby

Tom Sharp5 Nov - 19:30

A day of rugby, remembrance, and community at Manor Fields.

This Saturday marks a significant occasion at Manor Fields as Bletchley Rugby Club hosts a Super Saturday of league action alongside our annual Remembrance Weekend Commemorations and VPs Buffet Lunch.

Rugby brings people together - and this weekend, we proudly pause to remember and honour those who served, those who stood for our freedoms, and those who never returned home. The club will pay its respects before kick-off in a moment of collective reflection and gratitude.

The VPs Lunch begins at 12:30pm in the clubhouse, with players, members, supporters, friends, and families encouraged to attend the day’s events and share in what is always a meaningful occasion in our club calendar.

Remembrance Commemorations
At 1:50pm, we ask all players, supporters, and visitors to gather pitchside at the 1st XV pitch.
This will allow us to begin our Remembrance proceedings in a respectful and united manner. We will be joined by various Service Personnel and Veterans who we are proud to have join us for this poignant moment in our club calendar. We will be closing the bar temporarily at 1:30 to enable everyone to gather in time for the commemorations.

We ask that noise and movement cease during this period as we observe the Last Post, a two-minute silence, and the Reveille - honouring the fallen and reflecting on the importance of remembrance within our community.

1st XV vs High Wycombe – 2:00pm Kick Off
The 1st XV return to league duty looking to continue the strong signs of development shown throughout recent fixtures particularly in the two different cups they are competing in. The squad has been steadily building cohesion and confidence, with improvements evident in both defensive structure and attacking combinations.

High Wycombe arrive at Manor Fields off a competitive run of results and will provide a challenging and well-organised opposition. They have shown resilience so far this season and will no doubt travel looking to impose themselves physically and tactically.

For Bletchley, this is an opportunity to test progress against a difficult opponent, maintain home momentum, and showcase the determination and character that continues to define this group.

2nd XV vs Ampthill Casuals – 2:30pm Kick Off
The 2nd XV have demonstrated growing consistency and depth within their squad, with new combinations settling and experienced heads helping guide younger players forward.

This weekend they face Ampthill Casuals, a side who are known to bring pace, structure, and physicality across the park. The fixture promises to be competitive and high-tempo, providing the perfect platform for the 2s to continue building form and squad identity.

With both teams playing at home, the atmosphere promises to be lively and supportive across the grounds.

Join Us at The Manor
With rugby on both pitches, a meaningful act of remembrance, and the clubhouse open throughout the day, Saturday is set to be a powerful and memorable occasion for all involved.

Whether you’re attending the lunch, coming down to support the teams, or joining us to pause and remember - your presence is valued.

We look forward to welcoming you to Manor Fields.
