Policies:

BRUFC Safe Guarding Policy

BRUFC Youth Changing Room Policy

Everyone shares the responsibility for safeguarding and creating safe environments in rugby union whether as a player, parent, coach, spectator or club official.

All should operate within an accepted ethical framework and demonstrate exemplary behaviour to both safeguard children and protect all personnel from allegations of abuse or poor practice.

Children, which is anyone under the age of 18, must be cared for in the correct manner, as set out in the RFU Safeguarding Policy.

We are equally committed to safeguarding the welfare of all adults (everyone over the age of 18) involved in the game, particularly those deemed to be at risk.

You are duty bound to report a concern

BRUFC's aim is to create a culture where everyone feels confident to raise concerns without prejudice to their own position. Anyone with concerns about the behaviour of a coach, official, volunteer, administrator, professional staff or any other member of the children’s workforce which may be harmful to the child in their care must report them in accordance with the Safeguarding Policy.

If you have witnessed or heard about an incident which concerns you, it is important to report it to someone in authority, in the first instance to the Club Safeguarding Officer (CSO). In their absence the Constituent Body Safeguarding Manager (CBSM) or RFU Safeguarding team.

Remember to:

  • Stay calm, but don’t delay;
  • Re-assure the child that they are not to blame;
  • Do not make any promises of confidentiality or outcome;
  • Keep questions to a minimum;
  • Make brief accurate notes at the earliest opportunity

Rugby should be Fun, we are committed to enhancing the Rugby experience for children through a child centred approach.

If you have a concern make sure that you report it to the CLUB SAFEGUARDING OFFICER
