February's volunteer of the month as Dave Parker our VP's secretary.
Dave took over, at short notice, the role of treasurer in December and over the last couple of months has worked tirelessly to reconcile our accounts into the format required for our meetings with the RFU and the RFF ready for flood light and future club house funding.
Dave has also been overseeing the club's planning application, dealing with all the building regulation issues and with liasing with our architects. Although Dave may not be known to many of our younger members his commitment to our club behind the scenes is going a long way securing the club future for many years to come.

Sonia Underwood - U7 Squad Manager & Coach, Child Protection Officer
Since the beginning of the 2009/10 season Sonia has taken up the challenge of managing the U7 and U6 mini teams. Her enthusiasms and commitment has been seen by all, working hard to pull the young team of players together, as well as galvanising the parents and her supporting coaching staff. Not only has Sonia taken on the management role, she has volunteered to be one of the clubs Child Protection Officers.
What has made Sonia really stand out so far this season is her ever willingness to stand in for roles at the club and offer her time and skill to the fund raising Social events that the club needs to run to help improve the overall environment for all teams.
As a result of Sonia's phenomenal contribution the club would like show its appreciation by awarding Sonia the volunteer of the month award, it is appreciated that to show the level of commitment Sonia has needs dedication and skill to balance the needs of the Rugby and 'normal life' activities.
Thanks you from the Club.

Sarah Nisbet - Senior and Ladies Fitness Coach, Ladies Player.
It is with great pleasure that I can announce that September's volunteer of the month award goes to Sarah Nisbet.
Sarah started taking the clubs pre-season fitness training in the summer and has been there every week come rain or shine.
Not content with just taking the men's fitness she is now player/coach with Bletchley ladies Rugby team.
Sarah has shown great commitment to the cause and is there every Saturday to put the 1st XV through their pre match warm up. Sarah's training methods have paid high dividends with fitness levels in the club the highest they have been for a long time.

Mark Sharp and Simon Partridge - East Midlands Alliance Festival Organisers
We have not posted a Volunteer of the Month in sometime but that does not mean we have forgotten that our club would not survive without the support of all the volunteers. So to rekindle the Volunteer of the Month award it was felt that we should thank two people Mark Sharp (U8 coach) and Simon Partridge (U7 Coach) as joint organisers of the U7/U8 Alliance festival which was hosted at Bletchley at the End of February.
It was the first time that Bletchley had hosted a festival and there was a steep learning curve for both Mark and Simon but suffice to say the event went off without a hitch. The event saw over 300 U7and U8 from 10 local clubs descend on Manor Fields but Mark and Simon’s planning and organisation ensured that everyone had a great time.
The exec would also like to thank all the other volunteers from car park attendance to catering for making the event such a success.

Without volunteers the club could not run Party on the Pitch. This year saw even more people volunteering to help make Party on the Pitch the fun and successful event it was for one and all. In recognition of this tremendous effort the Club Exec feels it it appropriate to reward more than one volunteer so this month awards go to:
- For all his work throughout the year and weekend, the real Mister Poo and Power Ian Nobes
- Joe Nobes for his fantastic efforts throughout the build up week and for ‘propping’ up the bar on both sides!!
- Lisa Stanhope doing her sterling job setting up the bar and also having the best fancy dress
- Chris and Sharon Machin for tireless working cooking and behind the bar and coming back on Monday to help tidy up!!
A big Thank You and to all and to all the other people that helped. Here’s to next year!!!!

Emma Taylor - Director of Women's Rugby
At the 6th May Executive Committee meeting, Emma Taylor was nominated and approved as the 'Volunteer of the Month'. Emma was put forward for her tireless efforts in starting a women's team with the 'Codebreakers' for Bletchley Rugby Club. Ross Davidson the ladies' side's coach said that her hard work was now coming to fruition with the team playing their very first game against Thames RFC away on 10 May. Although they narrowly lost following an injury, Ross wanted to emphasise that Emma had persisted when things looked grim during the dark, wet cold winter training evenings and she could just as easily have given up and joined a more established women's team but thankfully for the Club she did not and her accomplishment and commitment should be recognised. The Club wishes to thank Emma and hopes to see more new members coming her way through the summer months in readiness for next season.

Ian Punter - U14 Squad Coach
Ian Punter is a stalwart of Bletchley Rugby Club. His connection goes back many years in a variety of roles. Ian has recently left the Executive Committee, but his love and committment to the club has not diminished. This enthusiasm was evident with his recent organisation of the U14/15's tour to Holland. Ian spent a lot of his time and his own money to make sure that the tour was a success. This effort paid off and a most enjoyable time was had by all those who attended, both adults and boys, despite the poor weather. Under Ian's guardianship all the boys were a credit to this club.
Ian remains popular and much respected by his U14 Squad, who have had their most successful year yet, and hope to go onto even better things under his leadership.
Phil Allen - Club Treasurer |
Jim Hughes - U16s Squad Coach/Manager & Youth Membership Secretary
Jim has been a friend of Bletchley Rugby Club for many years and is currently Junior/Mini Section Membership Secretary. It is never easy taking on the role of secretary but over the years Jim has developed systems and processes that allow him not only to account for every penny of subscriptions, send out a regular newsletter and provide information on a wide range of rugby and management issues to the Club Executive but also to be spotted playing on at least one occasion this season and regularly supporting the Club on a saturday afternoon as well as sunday morning. An all round clubman is Jim and well deserving of this award.
