Proposed Club Improvements… PDF Print E-mail

It has become clear over the past season that the Club building and facilities are in need of some attention. The Executive have spent considerable time considering what can be done and have come to the conclusion that given the current financial climate and the drain on sporting funding due to the Olympic Games the chance to raise the money needed to build a new clubhouse in the near future is slim. This is not to say that a new building should not be an aim for the Club in the long term but we are acutely conscious of the fact that we need to do something now.

We propose therefore to build an extension to the existing building as a short/medium-term solution to our problems and have been working with a local firm of architects to come up with a design. The first draft of the proposed plan is now available for comment. Essentially the proposal is to build two new changing rooms and to provide a new kitchen and dining area on the first floor. The estimated cost of this development is £100,000.

(Updated (following earlier comments) Plans Below)

To fund this work we have been offered £50,000 from Waste Recycling Environmental Limited (WREN) who provide grants as part of the Landfill Communities Fund (formerly the Landfill Tax Credit Scheme) and as the developoment is to be to RFU specifications up £40,000 to will be made available from the Rugby Football Foundation. We also expect contributions from MK Council and the Bucks Playing Fields Association. We can therefore confidently expect to be able to fund the work without unduly depleting the Club’s assets or taking on debt that would preclude a new build in the future.

Once we have an agreed design we will apply for planning permission and hope to be able to get started during the summer. What we need now are your comments.

If you have any thoughts on the plans presented we would be pleased to hear from you. Closing date for comments is the May1st following which we will submit a final proposal to MK Council Planning Dept.
