Bletchley Colts take the end of season Honours
The annual end of season Colts vs Seniors served up a cracker of a game to the happy band of Bletchley support.
A great day for running rugby saw a mixed senior team of 1sts, 2nds and Vets take on a Colts side bolstered by some of last years colts back from University. The game started off at a terrific pace with the colts dominating 1st half possession and territory for long periods. This was rewarded when Adam Downing powered over close to posts, converted by Jonny Byatt, to give the colts a 7-0 lead.
The seniors then got into to their stride, stung by the Colts try and utilising their sizeable pack were rewarded when Reggie "Biggie"Njovana crashed over to bring the halftime score to 7-5 to the Colts.
The 2nd half started off with the seniors gaining plenty of possession and pressurising the Colts defence. A mix of excellent flat line defence and numerous turnovers by the Colts back row kept the seniors out and the Colts younger legs and fitness then started to take its toll. Quick ball along the line saw Cameron Annis stopped just shorted but Sam Kissi-Dankyi, back from Bath Uni for the weekend crash over from the subsequent recycled ball. 12-5
The seniors continued to turn over the ball under pressure from the colts defence and, after stealing another tackle ball in the middle of the park, the colts moved the ball wide once again and Curtis Browning raced over for his first try for Bletchley Rugby club taking the colts ahead 17-5.
The Seniors were not however finished and after a sustain period of forward drives were rewarded when big Reggie again stormed over from, what he tells us was 20 yards (!!) for a second try right on the whistle, converted by Dean Williams to bring the final score to 17-12 to the Colts.
A really enjoyable and competitive game and a promising batch of young talent coming through for senior rugby at Bletchley RFC.
