Wednesday 14 March 2012: Bletchley Ladies 0 – 33 Wellingborough Ladies

The last match against Wellingborough was in early December and saw a resounding loss of 71 – 5 against Bletchley. Since then the team have made changes to their training regime and tonight would be a good test of how this was working.

The last time Bletchley played Peterborough it was only the 3^rd match half the team had played, which was reflected in the score-line (48-5 to Peterborough). This would be a test of how the squad has improved.

Today’s match was a last minute arrangement, to try and get more playing time to develop Bletchley Ladies’ game skills. Old Leamingtonians Ladies team is a well established team who were playing in the Ladies premiership just a few seasons ago.

The last time Bletchley Ladies played Rushden, it was the first match for half of their team. The score on that day was 5 – 39 to Rushden. This Sunday, Bletchley had to lend 3 players to Rushden, and a game of 12s was played in quarters of twenty minutes each.

The first match of the New Year was a home match to Coalville Ladies.

The Bletchley Ladies team was seriously depleted for this match, with four ladies from the squad out with injuries, a couple just returning from injury and some unavailable due to work commitments.

Bletchley Ladies 4th friendly of the season.

This Sunday saw Bletchley Ladies play their 4^th friendly of the season. They are struggling to get friendly matches with teams at their level, and this fixture would really challenge them. Wellingborough Ladies sit at the top of the league above the one Bletchley hope to enter next season, so the ladies knew they would be up against it!

The third match for Bletchley Ladies this season

Bletchley Ladies travelled to Peterborough for their third friendly of the season. They knew this would be a hard match, as Peterborough Ladies currently sit at the top of their league. Due to County Trials, Peterborough did not have a full team available. Bletchley lent them players on rotation, which enabled a thirteen-a-side match to be played. Before the start of the match, the teams had a minute’s silence in memory of Don Griffiths, a revered member of Bletchley Rugby Club, who sadly passed away on Friday.

The second match for Bletchley Ladies this season

Last Sunday was the second match for Bletchley Ladies this season. They have obviously been working hard since their first match, and began the match with great determination. The improvement in their handling of the ball was evident to see.

Sunday 09 October 2011: Bletchley Ladies 5 – 39 Rushden & Higham Ladies

This was the first match of the season for both Bletchley Ladies and their opponents. Since last season, Bletchley Ladies have seen a lot of changes, and the team today included a lot of players who were playing their first competitive game of rugby, having only taken up rugby this summer. As both are development teams the game was played in quarters.

Having received the Affiliation paperwork, Emma Taylor was quick off the mark to secure the Ladies' first fixture. OK they'd have liked to have been closer to home, but a match is a match and with 9 players, Bletchley Ladies set off to Thames RFC on an energy sapping unseasonally hot and humid Saturday afternoon.
