I am not sure if anyone did a formal match report but I would like to provide an informal one ................
I have never seen the team so happy relaxed and completely working together. Every one of them tagged their hearts out, if there had been an award for tagging they would have won by miles. In one game I counted 10 consecutive quick fire tags, it left the opposition well tired!
Every single child had an awesome game, and they had fun I don’t know how many tries were scored but to be honest I personally didn’t care because they were a great team, working for one another ! They were unlucky to have lost the last game – maybe next time we should coach them to take the first pass (slight serious moment...). They were defeated by one try (I think, still not too sure) but for me they won the day.
Adult entertainment was provided by Kendon , who managed to be coach and ref for the day and in his spare time showed his gymnastic ability by doing back flips (hope the toe is ok Kendon!!) . Seriously there is a lovely bunch of parents to stand and talk or scream or moan or cheer with so thank you one and all, I should of been doing my course work but had much more fun in your company with the kids (even if I feel sick at every game). Oh and p.s the management team isn’t bad either !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks go to Bruce, Kendon, Nic, Sonia and all the parents who make Sundays much more interesting !
(Here’s to a fun weekend next week , I have booked the taxi because I am not driving ! I will be the one in the corner with the box of wine ..... just bring your own glasses !!!!) |
Bletchley U7s played a home game against Aylesbury on a bright, sunny but cool morning. All the squad were in good form and raring to play this last home fixture of the season.

Match 1: Bletchley U7 A 4–1 Aylesbury U7
Very early on we witnessed some excellent free flowing rugby by the U7’s. With excellent tagging skills being shown by Harvey and Oliver W. An excellent first try of the match scored by Oliver T. It didn’t take Bletchley long to score a second and 3rd try by Ethan and Daniel B. Excellent defending by Adam, Morgan and Morgan Anna. Match 2: Bletchley U7 A 5-5 Aylesbury U7
Aylesbury put forward their “B” team in this second match again Bletchley but were very evenly matched throughout this game. We saw a few knock-on’s by Bletchley early on but once the first try had been scored they were on a roll. We saw Josh and Morgan deliver some excellent evasion and defending skills. All the squad showed fantastic support in this match. The first two try scores by Bletchley followed by the next two try’s, being scored by Aylesbury. Aylesbury then run off line, which turned the ball over to Bletchley. Bletchley keep Aylesbury on there toes, with excellent team work with lots of defence being shown by all. Bletchley were not fazed by this “B” team and scored a 3rd try. Towards the end of this match we did see that Bletchley were starting to loose a little support within their squad which allowed Aylesbury to score a hatrick just before the ref’s whistle.
Try Scorers: Ethan (1) & Oliver T. (2)
Match 3: Bletchley U7 A 6-5 Aylesbury U7
This match confirmed everything that the under 7’s have learnt and have taken on board this season. They all had a great time on the pitch and were proud to show off their rugby skills. We saw again excellent running by Daniel B, Josh with good tagging by Anna, Oliver W, Harvey and Adam. It was a fun morning with Bletchley U7’s receiving lots of loud support from the sidelines.

Some great running from Anna and Jarred wasn’t quite enough to earn Bletchley a try and the score remained 3-1 at half time. Market Harborough started the second half strongest and extended their lead to 4-1 before Ollie T scored a superb try to make the score 4-3 and offer Bletchley some hope. But it was Market Harborough who scored again to make the score 5-2. Match 2: Wellingborough U7 8–4 Bletchley U7
Once again Bletchley started the match well and Ethan soon put them in front with a brilliant try. Wellingborough then scored three tries in quick succession to take a 3-1 lead and it could have been more if it wasn’t for some great tagging by Ethan and Ollie T. Some great running from Adam and Jarred ended in a well deserved try for Bletchley, brilliantly finished by Ollie T. Wellingborough then scored just before half time to make the score 4-2. Wellingborough scored early in the second half to extend their lead to 5-2. Bletchley came back with some excellent running from Rhys and Daniel leading to a great try by Jarred. Oundle then scored to make the score 3-3 before Jarred scored a great try to make the score 4-3. Bletchley then found themselves under pressure on their own try line until a mistake by Oundle handed possession back to Bletchley and Jarred ran the entire length of the pitch showing great speed and stamina to score a superb solo try. Oundle then equalised just before half time to make it 4-4 at the break. Bletchley were determined not to let this match slip away from them and Ollie T soon restored Bletchley’s lead with a great try.
